On track to open in spring 2025, the new 98,000-square-foot Clemson Foundation Alumni and Visitor’s Center at Clemson University creates a top-tier arrival experience for first time visitors and alumni returning to campus. The Center houses the Clemson University Foundation, Clemson Alumni Association, Admissions & Visitors Office, Development Office, Board of Trustees Staff Offices, Career Center for Professional Development, and Walker Golf Course Club House & Pro-Shop, and a new full service restaurant.
RMF Engineering is overseeing the incorporation of the building's MEP/FP systems and new chilled water plant. The building was designed by GMC in partnership with Cooper Carry. Construction management services are being provided by Brasfield & Gorrie.
In overseeing the incorporation of the building's MEP/FP systems, RMF Engineering took special care in strategically distributing air, power, and fire protection to the double-height lobby. Creative engineering solutions were developed to take advantage of the few pockets available in the structure, maintaining the integrity of the design while navigating the small duct sizes and minimal routing options.
Two electrical risers serve each side of the building, with low voltage distribution designed similarly. The electronically controlled tinted glass, alongside the timber construction, help minimize the HVAC load and contribute to achieving Green Globes certification. Further, the structure’s significant size called for a new chilled water plant, which will also provide cooling to the Clemson Madren Center.
